Hello Brothers and sisters. I intended to offer my tribute to John. But I have rather been busy lately. Even at the moment I'm traveling and can't join this event via audio or video. Nonetheless, I would like to say the following about John: Mr John Mungai was one of the very first Kenyans I met when I came to Japan. From that moment we exchanged pleasantries we never ceased to be friends. Even though balancing life and work is quite challenging in Japan, John still found and fixed time for me; and we would talk for hours on end. It wasn't hard for me to get along with John as he is that all-round person - intelligent, witty and affable. He had a rare ability to diffuse tension and make light of very controversial matters without being insensitive. John was also capable of make conversation on any topic and never shied from admitting that didn't know or was wrong about something if he, in fact, he was. A fabric has been torn from the Kenyan Community in Japan by the untimely death of John. We will miss John dearly. I pray that God the Almighty continues to console and strengthen the hearts of his friends and family. May He Rest In Eternal Peace. - Jeff

Shine on your way Namesake. It is at such a moment that I lack words since none can describe the vacuum you leave behind. Until we meet again, sleep well brother.
